About CSI
History & Mission
Our History
Community Services Institute (CSI) began by offering the
Department of Social Services (DSS) a chance to use the Medicaid
program as a tool in fighting victimization of vulnerable children and
families receiving DSS services. CSI evolved as part of the
Massachusetts De-Institutional movement of the
1970’s. CSI
has been fiercely committed to keeping families living together in the
community through the use of psychotherapy supported by psychiatric
evaluation, medication backup, and a psychology department with
extensive expert experience in psychological testing, parenting
evaluations, and risk assessment.
CSI prides itself as a clinic seeking to offer
clinicians and families
the best climate to improve safely.
Mission Statement
- Empower caretakers to keep children safe.
- Use psychology to understand the risks and
protective factors in the complex field of child abuse and neglect.
- Honor the proud legacy of the late Anna
Freuds’ “The Best Interests of the Child”
in all
clinical work.
- Challenge clinicians to be single mindedly
obsessed with “The Other” and focus on constantly
improving
a family’s inner strengths.
- Offer families a safe attachment site for as long as
it takes to maintain safely.
